5 Affordable Things To Do In London This Christmas
We’ve reached that point in the year where everyone is scrambling to book you in for Christmas dinner, drinks or last minute shopping. Despite the amount of cash that leaves my account, I really enjoy the rush of catching up with everyone and everything before settling down for the big day. Here are a few AMD Approved things to do this Christmas (that won’t break your pocket).
Galavanting in the Streets - Free!
Go for a late afternoon stroll down one of London’s famous high streets for a view of the Christmas lights. I recently went to Oxford Street to do some shopping and the displays look so gorgeous at night.
Despite the crowds, places like Oxford Street, Regent Street, Carnaby Street and Covent Garden are a great shout for window shopping, yapping with your girls or being cute with your bae.
I also recommend heading to Caffè Nero or Grind for delicious festive hot drink selections. There’s something about walking down the street with a cup of coffee that feels so * chefs kiss *
Christmas Markets - Free
If you really want to get into the Christmas spirit then Christmas Markets are the way to go. Sure, you might spend £15 on a Bratwurst or your life savings on a glass of Mulled Wine, but it’s all about the vibes! Right?! (Speaking of Mulled Wine, check out my home made recipe here)
Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross is a great central location where you can find a selection of small businesses, unique brands plus it’s very aesthetically pleasing.
Honourable mentions: South Bank, Tate Modern, (Hackney) Wick Wonderland, Broadway Market and Borough Market.
Put Kettle On Comedy Show - £15
My good friend and comic Sapphire McIntosh is hosting the third installment of her comedy night Put Kettle On with an all Black line-up. If you like having a chuckle whilst supporting up and coming talent, head down to New Cross for this fun show.
Buy tickets here or on the door.
Somerset House Ice Skating - £25 +
Are you an avid skater or just down to try something new? My lovely friend Melle Brown DJ’ed here and it’s such a vibe!
Get ya skates on, some drinks in and float around the ice to some tunes at London’s iconic Somerset House. Slots go pretty quickly but Westfield White City is a great back up option.
Dinner at The Broadcaster - £30 +
Shameless plug but did you see me in The Broadcaster’s Christmas Campaign? Your girl has been getting her modelling on.
Head over to The Broadcaster in White City (sister to The Lighterman in Kings Cross) for a modern-British-inspired meal paired with deliciously crafted cocktails. Inside feels like a blend of a traditional pub and an upscale West London bar, they even have a DJ on their rooftop every week.
My friends and I had the Ham Hock Sausage Roll, Beetroot Carpaccio and Baked Sourdough to start then the 32-day-aged Burger and the Pork Schnitzel for mains.
